Mediterranean Chicken

007
Happy Monday friends.  Today was my first day back to work after a week off.  The week off was much needed.  I did a lot of thinking and soul searching.  I began to read, again, from the beginning.  Brene Brown's Daring Greatly.
I think that this time around I might actually finish it.  I came to realize that a lot of my problems that I had this past month was from me withdrawing myself from human connection.  I finally today just summoned up my courage and asked for what I needed.  Only time will tell if things will improve the way that I want them to, but I feel better for putting myself out there.

Honey Whole Wheat Bread

009

There are very few things that make me deliriously happy.  Fresh baked bread with honey on top is one of them.  After a long week of practice teaching, after dealing with another snafu with the California DMV regarding my vehicle, after learning I'll probably have to drive the entire 3,000 miles home in July, after another air bead sprung a leak, and missing my kitty it was time to treat myself.

Running

I've been thinking on taking up running for sometime now.  Though every time I start I cannot follow through.  Alex tries to "motivate" me, but it only makes me feel inadequate.  He seems to think that someone who has never taken up running in their life should just push themselves to exhaustion and the fact that running flat out for a single minute makes me feel like my heart is going to leap out of my chest is not good enough.  This mentality is going to make me not want to run ever or give me an injury.  Neither of these is something that I want.  So, I've been doing some internet research.

This is what I have found:

Week                            Run/Walk Plan                    Total Duration
1                       1 min run, 2 min walk (7x)                21 minutes
2                       2 min run, 2 min walk (5x)               20 minutes
3                       3 min run, 2 min walk (4x)               20 minutes
4                       5 min run, 2 min, walk (3x)              21 minutes
5                      6 min run, 90 sec walk (3x)              20 minutes
6                      8 min run, 90 sec walk (2x)              18 minutes
7                    10 min run, 90 sec walk, (2x)             23 minutes
8                  12 min run, 1 min walk, 8 min run         21 minutes
9                 15 min run, 1 min walk, 5 min run          21 minutes
10                    run 20 minutes continuously                20 minutes

Then we move on to the next program, but we'll see if I can even stick to this one.

Workout Recap (Week: 1)

Day 1: Monday April 30th

I did Jillian's 30 day shred, well most of it.

Then I went over to BodyRock.TV

I took the fitness test!
And I'm doing really well on the abs.  I really liked Lisa's explanation of how to properly do squats.  I already knew that I sucked with push-ups, but I was surprised how hard tricep dips were.

Day 2: Tuesday May 1

Jillian's 30 day shred

Day 3: Wednesday May 2

Day 4: Thursday May 3

Day 5: Friday May 4

Day 6: Saturday May 5

WEDNESDAY: WEIGH IN

Weigh In Wednesday

My Week:

Wednesday, weigh in day.  Some lbs were lost as some of you may remember, Alex decided that it was going to be a cheat day.  So, for dinner we had yummy Thai food.  Chicken and shrimp pad thai, red curry, and spicy  fried rice all of which we requested hot!   Then we shared a molten lava cake. I think I gained back all the weight I lost in just one meal!

Thursday, Chico Chai with a dear friend and I worked out.  However, there was more chocolate cake.

Friday, no workout and dinner out with a friend.  I was semi-good and had baked salmon.

Saturday, no workout.  I spent the day visiting with various family members.  Ate out twice!  A omelet for brunch and an empanada for dinner and some tres-leche cake for dessert.

Sunday, again no workout.  I really had nothing to do that day and just stayed home and did absolutely nothing.

Monday, I WORKED OUT!  Finally.  I had a full day.  Finished a book I've been reading, worked an eight hour shift and cooked a healthy dinner.

Tuesday, Alex and I worked out together.  We did Jillian Michael's Killer Buns and Thighs.  Now I'm beat.  The day was long, but much was accomplished.

Are you sick of my weekly recap yet?

Here are my stats for the week.

Weight Loss Goal: 18 lbs
Starting Weight: 158 lbs(Jan 1 st)
Today's Weight: 153 lbs
Week Loss: 2 lbs
Total Loss:  5 lbs
Distance to Goal: 13 lbs
Week's workouts: 3

Happy Leap Day!

Also I'm attempting to go Vegetarian for the whole month of March.  Wish me luck!

And I'd like to thank Lucy, Katy, and Izzy for all their encouragement last week.
I did not hit my goal of working out 4 days, but I'm going to try again this week and watch my diet a little closer no more chocolate cake!

Wednesday: Weigh In

Weigh In Wednesday

I've been wanting to lose some lbs.  Well really who doesn't and well of course I'm not on track.   I'm not really doing anything other than hearing about my husband working out and eating a lot of Subway.  I mean a lot.  I think I'm getting really sick of sandwiches and I love sandwiches.  This next week my goal is to work out at least 4 times.  Which will be a huge jump.

Anyways, I stumbled upon this fun exciting link party.  Maybe it'll keep me on track.  I'm at least willing to give it a try.

Weight Loss Goal: 15 lbs (from today!)
Starting Weight: 158 lbs(Jan 1 st)
Today's Weight: 155 lbs
Total Loss: 3 lbs
Distance to Goal: 15 lbs
Week's workouts: 1
Total Time Exercising: 30 minutes

Happy Wednesday!

Thankfulness Week Three

This week...

Just one week from Thanksgiving.

Lots to do and yet things are moving in slow motion.

It's a strange feeling.

The air is crisp with autumn.

This week I am thankful for...

Fall Leaves.

I don't think they need an explanation.

Mamasita.

We have had her for 8 years now. She is the best kitty.

070

Wii Balance board.

For staring me in the face everyday to remind me to exercise.

Happy Wednesday.

What are you thankful for today?
