Today is the first day since early September that I feel like I can breath. I feel like I'm able to get back into my own skin. Today, I cleaned my pantry, kitchen, and dinning room.

Today
Today's mess is brought to from moving to the East Coast!
Because 3,000 miles is a long way to go.
Zoey helps sorting and packing.

This is how we do it.
Tuesday.
Tomorrow is Wednesday (my favorite day of the week) and it's going to be the fourth of July. So a day off with pay in the middle of the week. I cannot say no to that.
Since, both Alex and I worked today I just did a little packing/sorting.
And of course Zoey helped.

Ravioli
One thing at a time.
Today, I decided that I needed to sort though our magazine collection. The bulk of which are full of fun and interesting recipes. As of this writing I'm almost all the way through this project and many recipes have been added to my recipe binder(s).

Saturday.
Oh, what a day. Cleaned the bathroom. It was more work than it sounds for I took everything (except a mirror and the shower curtain) out of the room. It was blank.
I scrubbed the shelving in the linen closet (the best things I can think to call this strange closet in the bathroom (which incidentally doesn't have a bath tub).

A new place to live
Finding a new place to live is a daunting task.
Even when it's just across town,
But, almost 3,000 miles away...
This is giving me heart palpitations.
Enough about my anxiety.
In other news my sorting is coming along nicely.
Here is a picture of the pile of books I'm ready to part with.
If you know me well, you know this is hard for me, but it's all for a good cause.
Also if you want some books...
Have a good weekend!

Piles
And Piles!
Of Stuff.
There are piles of papers.
Piles of Books
Piles of random things that I really don't know why we have it.
This is my life right now.
Sorting all of our things into piles of keep, donate, and trash.
All in preparation to move.

podcasts
A day of sorting though old paperwork.
I need to de-clutter my life before we move across the country.
While doing this I listened to podcasts.

A Good Day
I'm finally done with my class. I do not generally stress over classes, but this one (the first class in two years) threw me for a loop this past month.
But not today.
Today, was the last day of class. I'm free.
I can start planning for our big move. So much to do, so little time.
Today, I walked around down town for an hour.
Wondered into a used book store and found one of the books I need for school for only $3.00. What a steal. I picked up a couple more Montessori books while I was there and they were inexpensive.
After that I walked up Seven flights of stairs. Nothing like stairs to make you feel really out of shape.
And to round out the day, I finally had enough energy to clean the house while listening to Joy the Baker Podcast
I haven't done this for awhile. I've been very busy.
So strange as it sounds. This makes me very happy!
Today, the kitties and I listened to...

Saturday
What to do on a Saturday?
Clean house?
Laundry?
Laundry?
Nope.
Not motivated.
But I put on my house cleaning listenings and things start to get a little bit done.
Today, Zoey and I listened to...
Joy the Baker Podcast:
Episode 40: Book Baby
Episode 41: Close to a Third Party
Episode 42: Would You Rather
Episode 43: Like the Movie "Ghost"

I finished all the house cleaning, which is good because tomorrow is Easter and Alex and I are attending a Tea Party!
Here are our matching tea cups
I hope everyone has a great Easter!

Happy Sunday!
Another day of cleaning and listening to Joy the Baker Podcast.
This is becoming a ritual. Or maybe a guilty pleasure?
Today I got through three more podcasts.
That means I am now only ten episodes behind. And I have a clean house!
Slowly I'm catching up.
Now it's time to watch more Hell's Kitchen I'm almost all caught up on that as well.
Then at some point today I'm going to tackle some of my life goal list.
And maybe making something from MtAoFC again.
The day is young.
Happy Sunday everyone!

Fall, Cleaning, and Pumpkin Bread
It was a beautiful Fall day.

Even Mama was in the mood to pose for some photos.

Unfortunately, there were ants running amok in my kitchen this morning.
I had to wipe down all the shelves.
And pushed into the back was this.
Pumpkin Bread mix.

So I mixed it up with water, olive oil, and eggs.

Divided the mix into two bread pans.

Put in the oven and out popped bread.

So my dinner tonight was pumpkin bread with pumpkin spice tea.

Spring Cleaning
It's that time of the year again. Time to get into every nook and cranny of your house and dust, scrub, and clean away the winter. This year I'm bound and determined to get rid of things that I no longer use or need. Even the Cats are helping.

Well that was Saturday, we (the cats and I) finished the bathroom, living room, and most of the bedroom. The bedroom just needs hubby to put the clothes that he wants to keep back into the closet. The rest are going to a yard sale that Steph from Hope Sewing is Genetic and I are having next weekend. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Today, it's blustery outside, not even Zoey wanted to go out and play. I just want to eat warm oatmeal and finish watching My So Called Life. I only have two rooms left and the computer room really just needs a straitening and some vacuuming. So I need to power through the rest.
I know in some of these you cannot see the difference, but I know they are cleaner because the dust is gone and the items are more neatly stacked. We live in a tiny place so there are not many places to put all the things we own.

Kitchen addendum
Rearranging the Computer room inspired me to do the same in the kitchen. Now it's not as dramatic of a change for I only have three pieces in the kitchen that can move (Refrigerator, Bookshelf, and table), but I think the recombination will give a new/fresh fell to this room. Now the only room left in the house to tackle is the bedroom. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do in there the thought of it is quite daunting. I would have liked to rearrange the living room as well but I'm not really sure that is actually possible at this point in time. I think when we move again will be the only way I'll get to rearrange this particular room. But we'll see how it goes. Maybe I'll come up with a brilliant plan and the energy to pull it off. Humm...

Day Eight
So my day starts off late for we didn't roll in until about two in the morning last night after a long day soaking up the sun and hanging out with friends.
This first thing I find is where my sewing machine was hiding. Not that it was lost per-say but hidden from view. On the left is Hubby's old computer that I thankfully convinced him to get rid of.

I sorted out the Winter coats and sweatshirts on one side getting rid of some that have never been warn. On the other side are long dresses and costumes.
Zoey was a big help. She was a seek and destroy machine on all the spiders that were unearthed from the moving of furniture that has sat unchanged for two years.
Maybe now Hubby wont have bites on his legs after sitting at the desk. At least until the spiders move back in, but that is a story for another day.
"I'd rather be a failure at something I'm in love with than a success at something I hate".
This was some great advice I found while sorting out papers. It is something that I need to remember. Especially when I forget that money is not the only thing a job is for and when I'm suffering from low self esteem about pursuing my career in Anthopology.
The final product.
Though I would still like to make some curtains for the window and add a book shelf for all the books that are now in stacks in the living room.
But for now it is a success.

Day Five
The organization of the computer room is going slowly. But the hubby did remove his computer and he also threw away some boxes.

Day Four
Since my purchasing of patterns and cloth are on hold until my hubby gets a job. I've decided to tackle a few other projects around the house that I've been putting of. The first of these is going to be to reorganize the computer room into my craft room. The following is the before picture. The room is a bit messy from my husband rummaging through boxes to try and find a static-free bag. I thought it would be a perfect place to start.
