"Kiss of Crimson" (Book Twelve)
Basically if you've ever read a vampire romance novel you've read them all for the most part. With the fame of Twilight there has been an abundance of these formulaic books. I've read tons and tons of them. Maybe I should give up on Vampire romance all together.
Every time I get a new one I think hey this one might have a new idea a new formula, but no "Kiss of Crimson" is just like all the others.
Girl meets vampire.
Some how he drinks her blood.
There is danger and/or conflict.
She drinks his blood.
They have wild sex.
They are mated for life. Neither can love another, forever.
Though I do give this series a little credit for trying to rewrite the vampire mythos. This "world" has vampires being descended from a coupling of Aliens and human women. Also it seems that vampires are only male in this "world". Very chauvinistic, but oh well. Since I have two more of these to read I'll give you a brief rundown of the plot for this one.
The woman is a Veterinarian who can heal people with her mind powers and killed her evil, child molesting stepfather. The Vampire is a warrior (they always are) fighting to keep the evil vampires from taking over the world and slaughtering the human race. Her ex-boyfriend ends up being a drug dealer to the young vampires, the drug makes them turn evil. There is a lot of fighting both the girl and the vampire get hurt, not at the same time and the other has to nurse the hurt one back to health. Which requires hot seamy sex. In the end they kill the ex-boyfriend.
As always, I appreciate your comments or book recommendations. ~Dianna
