"Midnight Awakening" (Book Fourteen)
"Midnight Awakening" by Lara Adrian is the second book in the Midnight Breed Novels that I have read. She weaves a good tale even if it is a little over done. The world book market is saturated with these vampire romance novels. Even I have been caught up in the storm, though these particular books I did not purchase, they were given to me. I still feel an affinity to the first books I read in this genre and from time to time I enjoy the mindlessness of reading these types of books.
So a quick run down of the book:
Warrior vampire of the first Generation (Gen one), thinks that he can never love again since his mate was brutally taken from him some five hundred years ago. That is until he meets this breedmate (what they call the women who can bear there children). She had previously lost her vampire mate and her child from that union. She is out for revenge. He is out for revenge. They are thrown together by chance and fall for each other, but it's complicated (isn't it always). There is some back and forth (lots of sex or near sex experiences) before they finally give in and do the blood exchange that bonds them together (like marriage). They fight bad guys, he gets captured and almost dies she saves him. Then they live happily ever after, because even though she is mortal drinking his blood during sex keeps her alive well beyond her normal life expectancy.
The End.
As always, I appreciate your comments or book recommendations. ~Dianna
